Jen Voorhees, an Air Force veteran, has had a lifelong interest in medicine and healing and is intrigued with the science of our bodies. She began her path by studying biomedical models as a biochemistry major and interned at Jake Gittlen Cancer Research Center at Penn State College of Medicine as an undergraduate. After graduating summa cum laude from Shepherd College (WV), she did cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center for a few years. During this period her interest in health both intensified and led to her questioning the current models of treatment. It was then she felt that optimum health could be increased by combining Eastern and Western ideas. She saw this model in action while studying in China and now strives to work with patients and their doctors to get the best results possible.
In addition to general health care (cold/flu, fatigue, gynecological issues such as PMS and menstrual cramps, diabetes, and pain—chronic and acute), Jen specializes in helping her clients reach beyond mental and emotional blocks to achieve their fullest potential, both professionally and personally. This is accomplished by using Esoteric Acupuncture, a system that focuses on energetic blocks that make us feel “stuck”. Within a few sessions clients will feel more confident, grounded, and able to move forward within their lives.
When not in the clinic, Jen likes to ride her horse, Riley, listen to live music, go camping, and cheer for the Washington Redskins.
